It's a blog-knock life...

Most of my friends have no idea as to what a blog is, although I didn’t either until about six months ago…

When I tell them that I have a blog that I religiously pay attention to it (yes probably a sad sign of narcissism) they laugh, they tease and they say they would never imagine me as the internet type. However they also know the joy and busyness that is my job, thus making my devotion to the internet much more palatable.

The biggest concern that has been repeatedly relayed to me (especially from my guy friends) is that I would develop some weird stalkers. I assured them that I never use mine (or anyone else’s) name and that it’s all in good fun.

Through the internet I have developed some “internet friends”. I think this to be fun, and nothing that I would have ever imagined doing. In the process of the last few weeks I gave my mobile number to one of these new friends.

This fabulous person called me this past weekend in the midst of my soccer boy fun, thus the ability to return the call wasn’t feasible.

When emailing and blogging, tone and inflection get lost, thus sarcastic humor is not often understood. Having said that, I received a comment posted on my blog yesterday:

“Really? You returned calls to everyone on your "dialed calls" list? Everyone? You positive about that? Because it would suck if you said you returned everyone's call, but you had accidentally forgotten someone . . . that might be enough to drive them into a homicidal rage at being snubbed as the only person on your "calls" list who did not get a return call. I mean if that happened to me (just as an example) I might go so far as to drive as much as 1400 miles to put an ice pick through the skull of the person who did that to me. Just as an example, though, I'm sure that would never happen with you and me because you did call everyone on your calls list and I'm obviously a very balanced person. Whew, glad we managed to avoid that land mine.”

A couple of my friends read this and flipped out. Calling me and telling me I needed to immediately delete my blog, I assured them that this was only an attempt at humor that went misinterpreted…

But really, an “ice pick through the skull” has never rolled of the tip of my tongue…

Here’s to new friends and fun (?) misunderstandings…

OK, if you ever delete your blog and start a new one, you better IM me or email me with the new address. I can't go without my daily dose of OC ;-)
