Say Cheeeese!

For Christmas I received a digital camera from my mother. I was completely excited about this gift, as I am one of those way behind the times people and had yet to have one. Much like my philosophy on sunglasses, I didn’t want to spend the money on one as I would probably ruin it, lose it, or something of the such. (I buy Gucci sunglasses and I go through four pairs in less in a year. I buy an uber cute pair for only $10 in some random shop, and I have them far longer than they were in style.)

I took my new toy to Christmas weekend with Beach Chic, however I never took many pictures… and they were mostly of her. So when I went for my extended New Years weekend I was excited to get some pictures.

My first night there we went out to dinner, where I placed my handbag next to me on the booth. It tipped over at one point. I picked it up, pushing my phone that was trying to escape back in and thought nothing more of it. When I got back home that night, I realized that I didn’t have my camera on me. I dumped out the entire contents of my oversized bag on the bed, sure that the camera must be in one of the hidden crevasses. The camera was no where to be found. I searched the house, the car. Nothing.

Far too embarrassed to tell my mother that a mere few weeks after she had given said gift, I had acted in some adolescent fashion and lost it in no time flat, I decided my only option would be to buy the exact same one for myself. I’d bite the bullet and never tell my mother. Luckily I found the same one there, on sale so I was quite excited and immediately purchased it, relieved that my mother would never be the wiser.

For the remainder of the weekend we took ::cough:pictures::cough:: of this good little school girl, the french maid and... others...

The last night there I tried to use my camera and it wouldn’t turn on. I didn’t feel like dealing with new batteries, so didn’t investigate any further. We used his camera to capture our… memories. The following morning I realized my camera wouldn’t turn on at all. As I was last minute packing I just decided to take care of it when I returned home. When I finally got home, there was no “taking care” of it. The camera was dead.

I had no choice than to return the camera to the same electronics store here, from which I had purchased it there and have them take a look at it. This can put an OCG in quite a predicament. Having already repurchased the camera for myself once, there was no way that I was going to again buy the same camera, making it the third one purchased in just as many weeks… however on the internal memory card there were some pictures that I really didn’t want anyone to see were in said camera.

Last Saturday I went to the store and took the camera up to the service desk. The guy working behind the counter said that he would have to take it in the back where they would try and fix it. He disappeared for about ten minutes. A very, very… very long ten minutes. My mind had yet again gotten ahead of me and I had visions of him and all the techies hiding in there back room enjoying the peep show of the OCG. He emerged from the back and told me it was definitely dead and that I could just take it to the counter and have it exchanged for another.

This didn’t seem bad at all… no worries… grab my new camera and move along with my day. Until I was requested to give my name and address three times over and watch them attached the information to the box I had just returned.

I left the store, new camera in tote. I couldn’t wait to get home and begin yet another year of googling my name to ensure that OCG gone wild doesn’t end up all over the www.

HM- Not if I can help it!

Brack- Those sunglasses seriously add up. Of course now I have two disposable camera's that I am sure I shall never lose, and now need to figure out what I shall waste the remainder of the film on so I might get the two pictures on each, that I actually want, developed.

HM- Never too much indeed... I am sure I can find someone somewhere who may disagree with you... but thank you for keeping this OCG... under wraps as it were...

Umm.. you wouldn't happen to have the name, address, and phone number of that store would you?

And the name of the guy you talked to at the service desk?

    Just curious.

That was sooooooo funny, in a somewhat embarrassing sort of way. It's kinda that way with my cell phone now. I'm loathe to lend it to anyone, even briefly, as that little camera has taken some HOT pics and I don't send to email or delete very quickly...
    ;)
