Random Wednesday Thoughts
TM has asked me over tonight… no not for a date, just to spend the night after I go to my weekly Wednesday night dinner with LaLo and mom… I actually considered it for a bit, then thought that I don’t need to do that. The boy can work for it if he wants to bed me… screw that. (No pun intended)
Jak I thought had finally decided to leave me alone. I haven’t heard from him in about a week. Until this afternoon… he has started not only calling me again, but now he is sending picture messages. The first of a picture of his son and a second of some random shaved head bald guy that I don’t know… Why? For the love of Christ… find a girl in Portland to stalk.
Mr. Wonderful called me a couple of days a go and shortly after I answered the phone he said, “Um, I don’t know how to tell you this, but I skipped my period.” I laughed and responded, “Oh my god, that’s weird, because so did I!” He paused and said, “Yeah I guess that’s not such a funny joke.” I thought it was… I hope he's done shooting his movie and working crazy hours, I wouldn’t mind hanging out with him.
I said to a friend today, “Are you just trying to get my goat?” He had no idea what that meant. Am I the only one to use this line? Did my mom make it up? I mean as I was born on a goat farm (hippy parents), it's completely plausible…I mean my mom had a bumper sticker on her station-wagon growing up that read, “Have You Hugged Your Kid Today?” I am beginning to wonder that she didn’t even mean my sisters and me… but rather some long lost goat that she had prior to my birth. My mom really loved her… she still talks about her sometimes.

Well, OCG, I'm a nerd and so I did a little research for you. The phrase "get my goat" is traced back as far as 1910, however there is no known etymology of it. So, while your mom didn't make it up, no one has any idea what the hell it really means.
If you'd like, I'll go ahead and type up a 2-page paper for you and have it delivered to your desk by monday.

"get my goat" is definitely a real phrase. I use it all the time. (not that I'm the webster's of language, but at least I hope it's real...)
And I think your joke was hilarious!

Meanie- ;-) You may go ahead and double space it...
I love that you are a nerd... I was actually a little jealous that I didn't think of looking it up...
Ms. Sizz- what can I say… like mother like daughter
;-)
Lizzie- I thought it was hilarious…. He needs to work on his sense of humor…

At least no-one says "get my Wombat".
Or maybe it would be a good thing if they did.

I've used get my goat before, not recently, but in general. So yes it is real-or at least it's real because I say so. But apparently melanie did that research for you.

Goat- I say “gotta get me some Wombat” ALL the time…
Heather B.- I suppose I shouldn’t use it… LaLo told me last night that I should only say such things if I am over 60 years old… great…

Actually, OCG, I believe the correct hip terminology would be "git mah gizzle" ;-)
